Frequently asked questions

We've collected a series of questions often asked by our touring cyclists prior to and during their tours. Please do not hesitate to get in touch if you don't see your question and answer here.
  1. What is included in the price of a Signature Tour?
Your self-guided Signature Tour includes: accommodations, shuttle services, daily luggage transfers, daily breakfasts, bicycle rental, bike helmet, trunk bag, pump, patch kit, bike tool, PEI Cycling Tours water bottle, lunch and dinner suggestions, maps and routes.
  2. What is included in the price of a Prestige Tour?
Your Prestige Tour includes: cycle guide, accommodations, shuttle services, daily luggage transfers, daily breakfasts, lunches and dinners, bicycle rental, bike helmet, trunk bag, PEI Cycling Tours water bottle, maps and routes, pump, patch kit, bike tool, fees and tickets for extra activities.
  3. How do you accommodate dietary restrictions?
Let us know ahead of time and we'll help you with your plan. If you are touring Prestige we will ensure your guide has all the information they need to make sure your dietary preferences are known in advance.
  4. How do I book a tour?
Once you've had a look at the various options on the website you can click on "Book/Inquire" and fill out the form. We will respond either by phone or email. If you'd rather just call, please do. Once we've agreed on an itinerary, we will ask to charge your credit card for a 50% deposit. This will secure your tour.
  5. What is your cancellation policy?
We have comprehensive "Terms and Conditions" that you will be required to sign off on during the tour booking process. Click below to go directly to our Terms and Conditions.
  6. What is a Single Supplement
Our bike tours are priced based on double occupancy. A Single Supplement is an additional charge that secures a private room for solo travelers. The price varies depending on the duration of your tour. ie: 6 night 5 day tour single supplement add $400.00 to the total of the tour.
  7. Should I get travel insurance?
The simple answer is YES. Customers tell us that Costco has a decent travel insurance offering. Also check with your credit card company.
  8. Should I train before touring?
If you are a year-round cyclist you probably won't need to train anymore than you are already. Most people will take a spin class in the winter months then dust off the bike and hit the roads and trails in the Spring. You will enjoy your tour more if you are not worried about your fitness and ability.
  9. How much support is provided during the tour?
Our Signature Tours are self-guided but we still offer a basic level of support. So if you can't fix your flat or there is a mechanical problem with your bike, we will get there as soon as possible to help out. You are provided with a pump, patch kit, extra tube and bike tool so you will have the tools to deal with most issues if they arise.
  10. What about your saddles?
Our saddles are mid firmness and provide a great stabilizer for your butt. If you want to bring your own, feel free. We also have gel seat covers and can reserve one for you if you are interested. We also have chamois cream if you need to take some with you on your tour.
  11. I heard PEI was flat, is this true?
No...BUT... there are no extreme hilly sections you need to worry about. Most of what we call 'hills' are small in comparison to the mountainous regions of the Rockies and Laurentiens. The Confederation Trail is flat with less than a 2% grade.
  12. Do you have SPD pedals?
We would be more than happy to rent a pair to you, but feel free to bring your own pedals. If you have Look or Shimano, best to bring your own.
  13. What should I pack?
We recommend one medium-sized suitcase and one backpack. We have a downloadable packing list (click below) for your convenience. Most accommodations have laundry facilities, either complimentary or coin laundry, so if you need to freshen up your gear it won't be a problem. Don't forget to check out our PEI Cycling Tours Apparel Store.
  14. Can I join a tour?
Our tours are all custom designed according to each tour request, so we do not currently offer open tours for people to join. Our large group tours are booked by groups of people who already know each other. If you are a solo traveler and would like someone to ride with, you could consider a guided tour.
  15. How much to tip on PEI?
Rule of thumb for restaurant servers is 15-20% of your total bill. Thanking your Prestige Tour guide for their expertise, support and awesome service by way of gratuity is very much appreciated. The industry standard is 10% of the tour cost for each individual guest.
